About the 2010 Liberty Bowl
The 2009/10 Liberty Bowl will be played on January 2, 2010 this season and will again be held in Memphis, Tennessee at the 62,000 plus Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. This year’s matchup will match up will pit Razorback Head Coach Bobby Petrino who was last in the Liberty Bowl in 2004 as the Head Coach of Louisville and his team defeated Boise State 44-40. “I've had the pleasure of coaching in it before, and had a great experience ... We're looking forward to everybody coming down and filling up the stadium. I'm excited about the preparation for the game and our team learning how to prepare for a big bowl game. We've got a tremendous amount of respect for East Carolina," Petrino said.
East Carolina is led by Head Coach Skip Holtz who has led his school to three consecutive bowl game appearances and its first Conference Championship since 1976. On the field, the Pirates are led by Patrick Pinkney who was granted a sixth year of eligibility. He has led them to back to back bowl appearances while passing for over 2500 yards and 14 touchdowns in 09. His QB rating for the season is 122.43.
